Curriculum Vitae (might be slightly outdated)

I am a Principal Engineer in Cisco Systems India, Bangalore (Bengaluru). My research and development background is in networks and distributed systems. I have had the pleasure of working with excellent colleagues, who have helped me in getting an extensive industry experience in the design, analysis, and implementation of protocols and functionality in the area of networking, including wired and wireless networks, and distributed systems. Recently, I have started to focus on systems implications of machine learning workloads. Before Cisco, I was at Tropos Networks (acquired by ABB), from 2007 to 2009, building an outdoor WiFi mesh network and then at Juniper Networks, from 2009 to 2014, designing and implementing multiple data center switching architectures, in the QFabric line of data center switches.

Research Interests

I am actively involved in academia via research collaborations, teaching courses (as visiting/adjunct faculty), and helping organize conferences. I generally work in these areas:
  • Wired and wireless networking
  • Distributed Systems
  • Data Center Networking
  • Cloud Computing
  • Network Analytics
  • Non Volatile Memory
  • System impact of AI and ML

Any practical OpenStack installation has complicated networking configuration and verifying it manually is time consuming and error prone. We demonstrate a completely automated service for verifying and diagnosing the networking functionality provided by OVS, a popular Neutron plugin. This service verifies (or points out deviations) that the user configuration is indeed reflected in the underlying infrastructure and presents the results in an intuitive graphical display.
